Development of a Generic, Modular, Micro Navigation and Control Module for Intelligent Autonomous Mobile Robots

Abstract


Most intelligent autonomous systems need a variety of navigation sensors, such as, accelerometers, gyroscopes, magnetometers, pressure-sensors, GPS, along with a powerful microprocessor to gather sensor-data, process it through navigation filters, and generate commands based on the control algorithms. In order to assist researchers accelerate their work, it is essential to provide them with a high quality, powerful, generic, micro navigation and control module, which is suitable for use in most of these applications. This paper presents the research activity, being conducted at NavStik Autonomous Systems Lab, towards the design and development of one of the smallest and most versatile control and navigation modules in its class, available today.
